We are ready for the Alaskan Leg, our fights are booked and the bikes are currently being serviced and most bikes are getting a new set of rubber. Dog and Tex have once again done the Route Planning and the first day of riding is Monday the 16th of July. Originally we were not going to ride the bikes all the way back to Seattle after reaching our most Northern part of the route, which is actually at the top of Alaska at the Sea of Beaufort, at a town called Dead Horse (so at least we know what to expect there, not much,) but my cousin Rassie and his friends were going to fly in to Fairbanks and then ride all our bikes all the way back to Seattle, making our trip only 2 weeks long, (which is just the right length, any longer result in our wives losing their sense of humour and us men start getting irritated with the other guys jokes and time-keeping, they way they chew their food and how often some want to stop for ice-cream and then there is the issue with “Kronkel-Paadtjies” (curvy roads,) which some guys want to do for 12 hours a day and others only a few hours.)
But Rassie and his friends are no longer available so now we will have to ride the bikes back ourselves, making this Leg 3 weeks long.… Read More
The first 2 Members of our group of 7 are flying tonight, (Pie and Milsy are doing a different route as they are going to go past a few Studebaker Collectors and will only meet with the rest of us on Thursday next week.)
Myself and the two pilots will follow on Friday and then the two Texans will surprise us and just “Arrive” somewhere.… Read More
The 1st two members of KTM Tour of the World, and the only two members of this years “Tour de Studebaker” has arrived in the USA and we wish Milsy and Pie luck for their little trip before joining us for the Real trip, (any excuse to get in a few extra days riding.)
Actually, let me be honest, it is not the most exciting news, but I am actually looking for an excuse to do a few postings to try out some of the new features I can use when doing postings as there has been a few improvements available to me, if I can just remember how to do all these changes.… Read More
A few problems with the Blog has dampened my spirits and I am mainly to blame as I stuffed-up the new Password, it was just to damn difficult from the begining for a blond 54 year old, so I got locked out of my own blog. But I hope it is all been sorted now, so I hope things will get better after this Test Post.… Read More
Old Murphy is riding me again, without a Saddle !! As I am racing to get everything ready to catch the Train to the Airport, the Fish Dr. arrived a day late to treat one of my sick Koi Fish, this old girl has a Bacterial Ulcer and needs a few injections. I usually do this myself but as there are a few injections to still follow I asks Colin to help me out.… Read More
Murphy has stepped up his game, Bastard, I am doing my post from my I Phone as my laptop wont connect the internet through the hotel’s Wifi, it is all the Anti Virus protection I am told, so I am working on that problem, but after traveling for 24 hours to get to this hotelroom in Toronto has left me with very little patience, so the Brandy Peens poured me will help, I just wish my fingers were smaller, how do they suppose I type on this small key-board?… Read More
There must be days like these. We left in a rainstorm that got worst, at times I was sure one of us will fall due to aqua-plaining. The morning was a disapointment after we had such an awesome evening at our RSA friends, now staying in Toronto, the three of us went to their house for a braai and we had such a lovely meal and the stories were flowing.… Read More
Prepare Yourself, this is going to be a loooooong Blog as I got my computer to connect onto Wi-Fi again after getting info from two computer guys as the one would say do “this and that” but not explain to me how to get to the page where “this and that” is, so when I ask him for more info on an idiots level he would not be available to answer at that moment when I have wi-fi on my phone, so then I ask the other guy who answers and by the time the “this and that” did not work he would be un available and I had to get the next step to try from the other chap, and so it went for three days. … Read More
The 2 Texans stayed at the same Motel we did the night before, there they met a family from Mozambique, our Norther neighbour of South Africa. Tex took the kids for rides and Dog scared them.
No news from Pie and Milsy, just a few photos to show they are still alive and heading to Oshkosh.
Yesterday we stopped at the Local Harley Dealership to see if Peens can get some maps for his GPS (as he once again brought the wrong countries Data-Card, this time he brought the Afica Maps to the USA, once he took the Bulgarian maps to Turkey.) They did not have the maps but they did give us some good advice to go and have dinner at Hagenseisters on the river.… Read More
