Tuesday 9th August : Cheap & Nasty Flights = Long Traveling Time

Happy Woman’s Day to  all the formidable women in my life!!!!!!!

When Covid struck our flights for Leg 16 were already paid for and booked, so we were issued Vouchers, which we could not use when Leg 16 actually happened in May this year, but we now used them and were unable to up-grade them for better seats. And since Covid ended everybody and his dog now wants to travel which resulted in Heathrow Airport simply telling airlines that they can only cope with 100 000 travelers per day, so flights got canceled and this resulted in our total traveling time from JHB to Denver (via Heathrow London)  became 34 hours, so here we are,  waiting for our connecting flight. Today we have a 7 hour lay-over here, but on the way back it is 12 hours, we plan to then go into London for lunch, but today only two brave souls slipped out of the airport to have coffee with Pie’s daughter at some train station.  It took us 2 hours to pass through security to get into the Transfer Lounge, so I hope Pie and Milsy makes it back in time before our next flight.

Heathrow is PACKED !!! and I wonder if my two new bike tyres will ever be seen again after their 7 hour lay-over in London, will someone remember to load them onto the conveyer belt when our plane arrives, I hear its chaos behind the scenes with thousands of lost luggage piled into storerooms. Thanks to Covid airports down-scaled and let staff go, and now they need to train the new staff they employed, (wonder where all the old staff went after being retrenched ????

Will this be the last memory I have of my tyres, which had to be wrapped (money wasted perhaps???

There is a lot of “admin” still ahead of us  before we can start riding on Thursday morning as Wednesday will be spent at a KTM Dealer where the bikes will get some attention. So don’t expect too much from me, difficult to write a story when nothing happens. But to your expense I could now just test myself and check all the features of the Blog is running smooth and that I am ready to go from the Blog’s point of view, which, as you are reading this is proof, everything seems fine, hope you enjou=y riding along with us.

In your travels through the West and Rockies, was there a particular food that you tried for the first time that caused you to wonder about the sanity of the locals? Was there any food that you can’t get here that you really missed?
