Day 284 Sunday 14th August Moab to Salt Lake City 483Km

Apologies Apologies, there are a few Serious Blog Followers who has been pointing out all my spelling mistakes (getting less) and confusion with the Days and Dates. In my defense, by the time I write the Blog South Africa has already clicked over to the new date and day and I must get into the habit of only getting the info from my phone and not my watch or Lap Top. Then there was one more complaint from a traitor within the group that says he cant find the posts. Well Mr. Pie, you should be getting my posts by email daily and not having to go to the Website everyday, been telling you for 10 years, just register. But he has a point, old people dont want to scroll down to Previous Post or Next Post, so, I have asked my Computer Man (or woman or Gender Neutral Person) to move The Current Leg right to the top of the Website and it will be the 1st thing you have to click on, thereafter you click on “Previous Post.”

I also experimented with the size of the photos I use, but that was a mistake, they came out too small, tomorrow its back  to the bigger files (they just take longer to Down Load.)

So Admin out of the way then, moving on.

We had a long day and we wanted to get to Salt Lake City early as we have been invited for dinner tonight, but more about that in tomorrows Post. So we decided to ride at 7h00 and try to get out of Moab and the desert before it reached 45 Degrees again like yesterday. But from 6h30 the two Technical Guys (Pie and Tex) were working on the bikes, DadAss was getting the most attention, (rear brake reservoir fixed with Pratley Glue was re-fitted and filled and the brakes blead, Chain adjusted etc.)  My hands are not made for swinging spanners, as you all know, they are for nurturing, loving, comforting etc, not meant to get full of grease.

We spent the morning riding  out of the desert and Tex had found is a nice winding gravel road which lifted our spirits.

We stopped for Breakfast around 10h00 but it was a Sunday and the little Dinner was empty, yet, our Server told us it was only her and one chef and making 8 breakfasts will take more than 20 minutes, so we sat down and waited, not sure if we would find another place before noon. We should have left, but you cant just always have happiness in your life.

We passed through several little towns, and the Car Parks at every church in every town was full, we are near Salt Lake City, Mormon Country (where having more than one wife is allowed,) and Peens was upset as he has still not found wife number 1, and others around him has several, unfair he thought. But we encouraged him to look harder as these women in this area might have pity on him. A hair-cut might also help??????????

By noon we stopped for an Ice Cream, and 2 hours later we stopped at a Gas Station, sitting like Maplotters (Red Necks) on the Fore Court Furniture, drinking coffee and commenting  on the cars that pulled up to the Quick Shop and to fill-up, on the clothes they were wearing, on the dogs they all had in their cars, on the choice of tattoo and Jewelry and footwear. As entertaining as that was we had to tear ourselves away and hit the road. But we were soon out of the desert and into the mountains again, where Dinosaurs Roamed and Mammoths lived in the Ice Age.

Most of the afternoon looked like this:

The Winner of “How Clean Is My Yard” is …………

Now We are off to Dinner, tomorrow we are off the  Toyota Land Cruiser Museum which will be Andy Boys highlight of the trip.
