Last night was amazing, we took a taxi to the Market and then had dinner on the city square. It was packed and I will post a few video’s on Instagram of how the people spontaneously get up and dance to the Marimba Band.

The fish market was thankfully busy closing, sadly the smell had not yet knocked-off, but it was interesting, they have a big section selling Mezcal, I wanted to buy a bottle but they wanted 700 Pesos for the bottle, obviously the brand, but you could buy 2lt of another brand for 140 Pesos.

Gogo’s, deep fried :

After the market we walked about 2 blocks to the square, on the way I stopped and took this photo which I think is a prize winner with so much information and subjects all on one photo, yet all in harmony.

I still have not lost my eye for a composed photo !!!!

I was shocked to see that eating deep-fried-crickets is a thing here, they do test like Biltong (Jerky) and is nice and crispy, but it had a grassy-weaty-juggie after taste, so I did not put it in my Taco, but Rocky munched them down much better.

We stuck to Mexican food although there was things like Burgers and Pizza on the menu. I saw several other tourists, (maybe 10.)

The patrons at the different restaurants got up and danced and the square rocked.

After dinner we followed the sound of music, there was a Political Rally, the Governor of the Province was running for Government Job. Mexico, like South Africa hands out Grants to its people, and with that they are buying the vote from the people, and just like in South Africa, they vote people in out of fear of losing their grant instead of using their brains and voting bad governments out. So sad, but this guy did put up a party. Many bands and most people in traditional dress. It was very festive, with a parade with giant puppets on stilts dancing around to the music.

We met at the bikes at 6h30, it was Stands Up at 7h00 (as old Dog used to say.) Rocky felt bad for failing the team with the Laundry that could not help us, so to hide the smell of smelly socks he had woken early and we all had a cup of coffee waiting for us on our bike seats, it seems to me he might finally be getting in touch with his feminine side.

We carried on where we left off yesterday, I counted 39 Speed Bumps in the 1st hour, and then we were on a good wide road for about 100km, we made good time and I was optimistic it was going to be a breeze of a day, we did not have many km to do. But then this happened:

I could see another faster route on my GPS but Eduardo was adamant we had to go via this route. And boy-oh-boy was he right. This was 150km of non-stop “Tail of The Dragon” stuff, it was the ultimate Adventure Bike Twisty Ride. If this route was in Europe or USA bikers from all over the world would be putting it on their Bucket List and it would be a well known sensational ride, but because of where it is, only the local bikers know it and ride it. Bikers from all over Mexico come here to ride this route. it is non stop adrenaline rush, but it takes your full concentration, for hours and hours. It is tuff on the wrists and the bike’s brakes, but it was something to remember and brag about to other bikers who think their 30 Miles or 40 Kilometres of Biker Heaven is something to brag about.

The people stay and trade on the road, so every 10km there is a forced break in your concentration as you have to slow down and jump over the Speed Bumps, dodge some dogs and wave friendly before challenging yourself for the next stretch of twists and Hair-pins.

Milsy and I have this “Cards” intercom, it is absolutely incredible for listening to music, I connected Cardo to my GPS and my Phone, so my aunty in the GPS gets preference when she talks, which is usefully so funny as she in from Britain and is really battling with the local names and I burst out laughing every tie she tells me to turn onto some road with a name she can’t say. The quality of the music is the best I ever had in my head inside a helmet. You can forward tracks by hand but Cardo is also Voice Activate, so when I put the Helmet on I say ” Hey Carlo, Music on” and via Blue Tooth I listen to what is playing on my phone. The problem is that the line is open all the time between Millsy and I, so everything I say he hears. This is very helpful with overtaking vehicles on a mountain pass. Today at one place I got a gap and over took a car just before a bend, after the bend I could see no oncoming traffic, so I told him it was clear and that he could over-take, he waved to Rocky to follow him, but Rocky thought the man is waving goodbye as he was definitely off to heaven by overtaking around a blind-bend in the road. So the problem is that if I sneeze, or burp, Millsy hear, I also can’t sing, and often I burst into song and then Millsy say “no singing.”

Another cool thing about this communication is that we skinner (gossip) about the others and laugh a lot as we do commentary about their riding habits and things they do along the days ride.

There are several informal “restaurants” and little shops along the way. Most of the ride is on one level, we started at 2400m above and slowly dropped down to 1000m before things got very hot and humid again.

Here are some of todays photos:

Note the string behind which all the drinks are packed??? I will ask, must be an Earth Quake Area:

Doc has been looking after us very well, he prescribed Potassium to all of us just because Millsy had a cramp during the night. He looked after those of us who’s stomachs did not do too well and today we returned the favour and applied some medical help to his Tiger that got into a fight.

The expensive Tourist Hotels here all have their own private beach, our Oros Hotel has its own Public Road in front of it, but it has got a pool and a bar, so who needs a private beach?

We are now going to gate crash a private resort hotel and sign the drinks onto some poor idiots room number, then we will have dinner and discuss our future plans and route as a few curve-balls has shown themselves with regards to how long we can store our bikes in Costa Rica without penalties. So all options are being looked at.

We are also awaiting the arrival of Peens who will join us today, he has done the Solo-Riding-Fishing-Drug-Caretel-dodging route down Baja and then into Sinaloa by Ferry, scaring the Bandidos along the way.

Have a great Mothers day, go the extra effort, these women are simply amazing, we are all so blessed to have them in our lives.
