Leg 19 Central America Part 2 (Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador)

This Leg 19 has been very “Testing” and we have not even left yet!!!!!!!!!!

Most of us fly on Monday, and it is going to be a very long and difficult travel ahead with 3 flights and long lay-overs, coming back will be longer and worse with longer lay-overs and further distance to fly. I hope that we can get better options on the next trip, via Brazil and not Europe, South African Airways are flying direct now, (but not easy to get from Brazil to Costa Rica, maybe Ecuador will be easier.)… Read More

Day 313 Wed. 7th February Arrival in San Jose, Storage to Hotel 600m

I honestly don’t know where to start with todays Blog, the drama is continuing as I am writing!!!!!

We arrived today at noon instead of yesterday at 17h00, it has been my worst travel-experience ever. Today when our flight touched down it had been 52 hours since I got into the Uber on Monday to go to the airport, and that is taking the 8 hour time-difference into account.… Read More

Day 314 Thursday 8 Feb San Jose to Dominical Beach 207km

It took most of the morning to turn our Bad-Luck around, but I am happy to report that The KTM Train is back on its tracks. I am writing this blog sitting at a beach bar named Tortilla Flats, with a Margarita in my hand and some serious Reggae playing.

This morning we split into 2 groups, Pie and Tex set off in the traffic back to Pie’s bike to find the electrical fault, and Milsy, Rocky and I went to sort out Rockies Tyre at a place down the road.… Read More

Day 315 Friday 9 February Dominical Beach to Drake Bay 192km

Instead of leaving this morning at 7h00 as planned we left at 9h00 as Pie and Tex pulled their “Hostel” door shut when they went for an early morning walk. It is called a hostel as I suspect that if it was called a Hotel it would need a few more amenities than what we had. I don’t mind only having cold water or air-con or a real pillow, but the toilet was placed on a step between the shower and basin and when I went to the toilet during the night I had forgotten about this step-up to the throne in the dark and fell forward almost chipping a tooth on the toilet, luckily my mouth missed the edge of the bowl, but sadly I hit my neck on the bowl, which meant my face went right into the inside of the toilet, but luckily my face did not hit the water in the bowl.… Read More

Day 317 Sunday the 11th go Feb Punta Marenco Lodge to Pavones via Golfino 225km

Not many photos today, which mean it was a”HARD DAY.” Early this morning I went to pay our bill for the past two days, it was only two nights accommodation, (3 Chalets per night,) 15 beers, 3 bottles of wine and 5 Pasta dishes on Friday and 5 Pasta dishes last night, and the bill was higher than I expected. The chalets were very basic but had no Air-con and only a Fan.… Read More

Leg 19 Day 319 Tuesday 13th Feb Sons to Chitre Panama 244 km

Last night we went to our little town’s Carnival, but we were too late, it was only the noise, police and a few hawkers closing their stall down.

I f you look to the right of the stage you will see big tanker Truck. Every town we passed yesterday and today had several tanker trucks lining the main road or little church square, but the police had closed off every towns main road and we were re-routed past the back of the trucks, I could not figure out why there were trucks????????… Read More

Leg 19 Day 320 Wednesday 14th Feb Chitre to Panama City 273km

Last night we asked the owner of our little hostel where we could eat, he said that the festivities were only ending at 2h00 so we should walk up the road to the Square and find a place to eat there. Our Hostel was one block away from the action where the Carnaval was taking place. I had walked earlier in the afternoon to go and buy some water and there was a stream of people leaving the square, they walked 8 abreast and blew their whistles and danced their way home, according to me the party ended at 17h00.… Read More
