Day 298 Thursday 4 May Home Day 25km

Today was a relaxing Home Day, Tex went to work in the morning and Pie, Milsy and I had the whole day just to prepare. Rocky is in the air on his way here and we see from Peens’s photos that he is catching fish in Mexico and that he has booked some Dives for the weekend, I am very jealous.

We believe that this is the last time we will be close to a KTM dealer, and that this was the last time our bikes could get a proper service, so its important to carry emergency spares again like we did in Eastern Europe and Asia. So today we collected some spares we ordered, we had Riding Jackets Dry Cleaned, we drove around looking for Adaptors to use in Mexico to charge our phones and computers.

We fed Tex’s fish in his aquarium, watered his plants, we cleaned the kitchen and emptied the dustbins, went grocery shopping as Tex’s son was coming to dinner and I was going to dazzle them all with some grilled vegetables, my famous German Potato salad, and a few Rip Eye Steaks.

We all had an afternoon nap to fight the Jet Lag, we spent time in the garage packing the spares and then, when the breeze picked up, sat outside looking out over the bay as the Pelican was dive-bombing onto the fish it was having for dinner, with a 75% strike-rate.

It’s nice to just relax and talk nonsense. We are good at it.

Tomorrow we have a few more things to do on the preparation of the bikes, we want all the spares to be distributed evenly between the bikes and then we will spend hours of our time to try and fix Pie’s Tank Bag Zip. He refuse to buy a new one, he loves the current 11 year old one and has informed us that he will be able to drill a minute hole in the side of the zips clasp and that he will be able to insert a paper-clip through the hole so that he can have something to pull to un-zip the tank bag, which has to be zipped off the tank every night.

We spent a lot of time in Tex’s garage, unfortunately he knows his friends, so he went to work with all the keys of his toys in his pocket.

We had Sun Downers and I cooked the food on a gas-braai on the patio overlooking the Nassau Bay. It has been nice and relaxing to just stay home and rest and prepare, but I can hear DadAss calling, its time to hit the road.

BUT, tomorrow we are not heading strait to the border as we are only meeting our Mexican Friends on Sunday afternoon in Mexico, tomorrow we are hearing to Tex’s Ranch to support him with a Fund Raiser he is holding at his ranch for a charity, so its going to be a short distance tomorrow, just over a 100km, so the real riding will only start on Sunday.

Hang in, almost time for the serious riding.
