Day 277 Sunday 1st May Bluff to Saguache 534km

We left this morning at 8h00. I had a terrible night, I hardly slept, I coughed and battled to breath, but worst, I had a fever, and because I sleep with ear-plugs (because Peens has Master Snorer Status,) I could hear my own heart racing, that freaked me out and I just could not sleep. Then I stood up and searched for our Medical Aid Kit, I hoped there was something for the flu and maybe a Rennies (Anti-Acid) as the gourmet lunch at the Fuel Station just would not stop burning.… Read More

Day 278 Monday 2nd May Saguache to Denver 325km

As I pointed DadAss North East this morning and rode out of the Motel  at exactly 7h30,  the time we said we were going to leave, (half the group left at 7h15 as the horse had now turned and was bolting back to the stable,) and the other half left at 7h45, (as they arrived late yesterday evening after Peens thought he had met the love of his life on-route at a Pizza Restaurant 15 miles back, so they never filled-up with fuel and first had to go to the Gas Station,) I thought that today was going to be a good one, if the sign in the Bates Motel’s window was anything to go by :

I rode hard to catch Group 1, there were no cars on the road, and every time I saw a car approaching I would slow down to 104km per hour, which is the Speed Limit on the open road as the Cops here has a Radar fixed onto an approaching vehicle and if you are speeding they make a U-Turn and chase you down.… Read More

Trip Down Memory Lane

I am getting more emotional as I get older, not only can a KFC Chicken advert make me tearful,  now as I realised that our little trip attempting to “Tour The World” has been going for 10 Years I feel overwhelmed, “Blessed out of my socks” also comes to mind, and LUCKY as not many people have friends like I have that will say “ok, the Arab Spring has closed off our route through Africa, so lets just go around the world.”… Read More

Thursday & Friday the 5th & 6th of May Final Post Leg 16

This Blog is going to be a long one, I have lots of time to kill waiting for flights, so I plan to bend your ear, so get a coffee and put your feet up, don’t just skip through the photos!!!!!

The next morning we woke up in our “Dated-Alpine-Log-Cabin-Cheapy-Oros-Ski-Lodge” (I suppose poor people also like to ski,) and were treated to a breakfast of weak coffee and a mass produced “Danish Pastry” with more sugar and MSG than legally allowed.… Read More

Tuesday 9th August : Cheap & Nasty Flights = Long Traveling Time

Happy Woman’s Day to  all the formidable women in my life!!!!!!!

When Covid struck our flights for Leg 16 were already paid for and booked, so we were issued Vouchers, which we could not use when Leg 16 actually happened in May this year, but we now used them and were unable to up-grade them for better seats. And since Covid ended everybody and his dog now wants to travel which resulted in Heathrow Airport simply telling airlines that they can only cope with 100 000 travelers per day, so flights got canceled and this resulted in our total traveling time from JHB to Denver (via Heathrow London)  became 34 hours, so here we are,  waiting for our connecting flight.… Read More
